Bio

Christopher Chan
Advisor
(Secretary elect)
I am an Intellectual Property (IP) and Registered U.S. Patent Attorney, and founder of Christopher J Chan IP Law, a full-service IP law firm.
I am the son of a U.S. Air Force family and grew up living in 8 states before arriving to
Atlanta to attend Georgia Tech almost 40 years ago. Since arriving at Georgia Tech, where
I served as my fraternity’s Vice-President, leading our philanthropic and charity activities, I
have taken a leadership role in almost every organization I have served. I am a big believer
in constant and innovative change with a great respect to an organization’s history, founding
principles, and past leadership. After working as a mechanical engineer, solving problems
for my customers, I graduated from law school at Georgia State University, and have been
in private practice as an IP lawyer for over 25 years. In the past 15 years, my non-profit
involvement has focused intently on the AAPI community, where I have served on the
Board of Directors for both the National and Georgia Asian Pacific American Bar
Associations, and I have represented the AAPI community on numerous other charitable
boards with variety of missions in the arts, domestic violence survivor support, Scouting,
elementary school and higher education, and instilling professionalism in the legal
community. As a graduate from both Leadership Atlanta and Buckhead Leadership, I
remain committed to improving the citizens of the Greater Atlanta area with a focus on the
AAPI community. My strengths are fundraising, organizational and process development,
mentoring, and non-profit legal counsel and governance.
